This is a hands-on and project-based introduction to web design which emphasizes standards-based and accessible design. The course introduces students to cross-platform web design with a focus on planning and designing effective web pages.

The course progresses from introductory work on web design; i.e. implementing web pages by writing HTML and CSS code; enhancing web pages with the use of page layout techniques, text formatting, graphics, images, and multimedia to a culminating project in which students design and develop a functional, multi-page website. The program is taught by Industry professionals who lead participants through the learning modules including hands-on exercises and a web design project.
This course is for participants who want to learn designing and creating web pages and want to learn essential web design concepts and practical applications. Entrepreneurs and business professionals will find the course useful to understand how HTML, CSS and JavaScript work together to create a simple web site to promote your business or idea. Hobbyists will find the course interesting as a refresher of the basics and introduction to the latest trends and standards.

This program will assume students have no formal knowledge of Web Design technologies used in the course (HTML, CSS, or JavaScript). Students should have a good working knowledge of using computers and have access to one outside of the classroom. Students should be able to manage your file system, including creating, copying, moving, deleting and renaming files and folders. Students using a MAC computer should be able to move files between Windows and Mac. Students should be familiar with using and managing files on external storage devices e.g. USB drive.
